MEET OUR MAMA OF THE MONTH

Mama of the Month Jacklyn Roiz-Rivera

Welcome Blessed Mama's:

We would like to focus on child development, self growth, and family values on March. I thought about this post for a while, and decided to ask my incredibly humble, smart, and faith driven friend Jacklyn aka Jackie to be our blessed mama of the month of March.
Jacklyn Roiz-Rivera, M.S, SLP-CCC runs her company called Louder Than Words (Therapy).  She has helped many families within south Florida, and continues to do so with a big smile on her face. She is passionate about her work, and truly a beautiful human inside and out. I am blessed to call her my friend, and now have asked her to work closely with our son David Samuel (he does not go to pre-school, and I would like to work on his speech and development) because education and personal growth is vital in our family.  In regards to her personal life, she is married and has two beautiful little girls, walks by faith, and is loyal to her family and friends. Hereby, is my pleasure to introduce you all to our Blessed Mama of the Month...

How does being a mama change your perspective on work balance?
I have always been a workaholic. I took time off when both of my girls were babies for a while however, I quickly realized being a stay at home mama was not for me. I truly love and enjoy being a pediatric speech therapist.
I do however put my family first always. I set boundaries! I work while my kids are at school. Once they are out, my time is theirs!

Best part about being a mama?
This is such a tough question. Do I have to choose one? The best part of being a mother is having these teeny tiny, innocent, honest little humans look at you at tell you how much they love you and how they want to be just like you even when you think you’re failing. No matter how upset or how bad your day is, they have a way of lighting up your world!

Do your kids sleep in your bedroom? If so, how do you find alone time?

My 4 year old daughter sleeps in her own “big girl bed” and my 2 year old starts off in her crib. I am still nursing so most nights she gets up to nurse and ends up staying in our bed. Alone time? Hmmmm... Does that exist? I am not one to get much of that. I figure once they get older I will have plenty of it and miss them dearly!

Who is the bad cop/good cop?

Most of the time my husband is the bad cop and I am the good cop. However, it also depends on the situation. We both have tolerance for different situations. When either of us is alone with both kids we have to play both parts.

How do you keep the flame going with two toddlers?

This can be tricky when you have multiple kids and they are young. We make it a point to spend any free time we have together. We also try and stay up after putting the kids to sleep, to stay up and talk, watch a flick or whatever else comes up ðŸ˜‰

What was the biggest sacrifice or compromise once you became a mama?

Time!! My needs and wants are no longer my top priority. They are my priority.

Do you recommend homeschooling?

Every kid is different and you have to do what works best for them and their needs. Wherever they will thrive, be challenged and have strong emotional/social skills is best!

How did you establish bedtime routines?

We’re still working on it. However, a typical night is dinner, a bath, a bedtime story, bedtime prayers and yummy snuggles.

How did you potty train your girls?

Once they showed signs they were ready we were all in. My eldest learned from watching other kids in her class and my youngest learned before she turned 2 from her big sister. She insisted on sitting on a toilet and I just went with it.

Would you have more kids?

My husband and I both said we would want five. That changed after we had our first....BIG SURPRISE!!! For now, we are so happy with the two beautiful, healthy and sweet girls God has blessed us with. If it’s God’s will that we have another, we are open to it.

What toys are vital for child development?

BOOKS, BOOKS, BOOKS!!! Puzzles, blocks, stacking cups, shapes sorter, instruments and anything they can pretend play with.

Truthfully, I could go hours asking our blessed mama questions, and learning practical tools for child development. We will have further quick tips and questions answered from her during the month so stay tuned in our insta for more of this knowledgeable, and mama we love dearly.

Thank you for reading about our mama of the month. Hope this post inspire you, and please share with your friends. Leave comments below for our blessed mama.

God bless you all
xo,
Blessed  Mama-Gley
